Fernando Rodriguez

 

Fernando R. Rodriguez was born August 2, 1947 to Victor and Carmen Rodriguez in San Bernardino, CA. He is the second of four children. Rodriguez graduated from Colton Union High School in 1965 where he earned varsity letters in baseball and football. As a high school student, he aspired to be a baseball or football coach. He enrolled at San Bernardino Valley College but was drafted into the U.S. Army before he was able to complete his studies. After an honorable discharge in 1970, he returned to SBVC and earned an associate degree in liberal studies in 1971.

Rodriguez became a journeyman electrician after joining the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 477. For the past 38 years, Rodriguez has been involved in all aspects of industrial and commercial construction projects as a journeyman, foreman, treasurer and president. He also taught first-year apprentices for 10 years. Rodriguez’s leadership and teaching characteristics are not limited to his profession. He has coached Junior All American Football, softball and t-ball. He has volunteered in church functions, IBEW-sponsored activities, Camp Fire Girls and has spent Thanksgiving with soldiers stationed in San Diego. Together, he and his wife, Angela have six children, fifteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He enjoys going to the movies, concerts, visiting family, deep sea fishing and coaching his Victorville Jackrabbits football team.
